SCOTLAND PRO ALT CCC JERSEY 2011 – X-LARGE

SCOTLAND PRO ALT CCC JERSEY 2011 - X-LARGE

Country: Scotland #985692.WH We have the most current jersey for the team’s new season! Are you ready for the games? The first international rugby match was played in 1871 between Scotland and England when the captains of five Scottish clubs challenged English clubs to a representative national match. Scotland won by one goal and one try to England’s one try. Like England, the basis of Scotland’s jersey has not changed since 1871 a navy blue jersey with a thistle as the emblem. The colours were chosen by the committee of six who organised the match at Raeburn Place in Edinburgh, still the home of the Edinburgh Academicals. The thistle has been Scotland’s emblem since 1263 when a group of invading Vikings sought to surprise the Scottish army at night while they were asleep in the fields. The Vikings eschewed protective gear and their plan was foiled when a leading Viking placed a bare foot on a thistle and cried out in pain. This woke the Ascots who drove the Vikings to their longboats, thus ending the threat of Viking invasion.

South Africa Springboks Pro 2010 SS Rugby Jersey

South Africa Springboks Pro 2010 SS Rugby Jersey

Country: South Africa #720950 Let the games begin! Canon George Oglivie, headmaster of Diocesan College in Cape Town, introduced the little game of rugby in 1861. Going forward in the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s the Springboks were increasingly the target of international controversy and protest. After being readmitted to international rugby in 1992 the Springboks struggled to return to their pre isolation stature. In their first game after resubmission the Springboks were defeated by New Zealand All Blacks 27 24 in August 1992. The unification of the national bodies in South Africa was signed at the Kimberly Sun Hotel. This event was the greatest highlight in 130 years of the game in South Africa. The new body was to be headquartered at Newlands. That same year the International Rugby Board awarded the honor of hosting the 1995 Rugby World Cup to South Africa, and the Springboks won the competition! They have since gone on to reclaim the title in 2007 once again proving themselves as one of the true powerhouses of international rugby.
